Greg Harding
- a practitioner of soul and guitar sizzle, Greg's in a class all his own.
In the classic words of one biographer, "he was born in a shack, all's he had
was a guitar on his back..." But this Kansas boy ended up exploring the limits
of blues and twang - and you've got to hear him to understand what we mean.
Greg grew up in the 'burbs, and cut his teeth on the '60s British
invasion, cheering on many stellar rock acts. He saw
The
Who perform at his high school (see yearbook pics
here,
here, and
here),
experienced
Jimi Hendrix, and helped
Cream
survive a stay in Des Moines, Iowa. Greg absorbed all these influences - -
and applied them to his high school study of piano and trombone. (Hey,
doesn't it seem like all the good players played 'bone ?)
At some point along the way, Greg "Hack" Harding picked up his uncle's 1930's
Gibson acoustic. He applied his eclectic and varied musical influences to
mastering that guitar - and after developing his own unique approach and then
letting it age like a 20 years old single malt Scotch, he embarked on his
storied musical career. Hollow bodies, Telecasters, Strats - Greg makes 'em all
sound like you've never heard them before.
In the '80's Greg performed with Kansas City blues acts Blues For Rent, and Back
Alley. Later, he appeared with Bill*Henry and the Shouters. For now,
though, you can hear Greg's heartfelt classic rock and blues with
Lonesome Hank
and the Heartaches - and on stage with the Kansas City's own Aces band.
Don't miss him!
