Hire the KC Aces

Questions about the KCAces show band from Kansas City - professional musicians

If you don't see your question listed here, write us and ask!

I want to hire the Aces! What's the cost, and how long do they play?

Many different factors determine the cost of any gig, but these 3 are most important: date, location, and how long you want the band to play. In a club setting, the Aces usually play four 50-min sets with 15-minute breaks to cover the 4-hour show. But, that's all carved in Jell-O. We'll work with you to meet your needs.

What about sound and light, and a stage?

The band's pro sound system and light rig can cover most rooms. Let us know in advance the size of the audience so we can know what to bring. If your already-installed sound system can cut the mustard, we'll be happy to use it.

However, you should know that when we supply our own PA, the Aces take an unusual and cutting-edge approach to sound reinforcement: we use onmidirectional and nearly invisible Bose L1 towers to spread loud, clean sound throughout your room or venue. Our stage remains clean and uncluttered, and we don't use monitors. No other band in the area approaches sound like we do. You need to hear us to understand.

In some cases we may need 3 separate 20 amp circuits for PA, lighting and stage instruments. We'll need at least a 12'x 16' stage or the equivalent space. If it's a large show, or a corporate event, you probably have hired your own sound company. We have lots of experience working with them. If you want us to hire professional sound, we're happy to oblige.

How long does the band take the band to set up equipment?

It depends on the venue - and on the access. Usually we can set up, sound check, and be ready to play in about an hour. Make sure the room is available, with a clear stage area and all power needs. Some events or venues require more time to get the gear into the room (elevators & steps; working around a florist or caterer, etc.). So, let us know what time your audience or guests will be arriving so we can get in and set up in plenty of time.

Can the Aces learn a special song?

They probably already know it! Just make sure you ask us in advance.

Will the band dress appropriately?

Let us know if your event is a formal one. We'll dress to reflect the occasion. Otherwise - - we're musicians.

But, we're also professionals. So, let us know if you have a special need. If you want the boys in special attire (like '70's), we can do that pretty well!

How loud are you guys?

How loud do you want us? Seriously, our Bose L1 towers are exactly the right sound system for your room. If it's a background set (usually earlier in the day or night) we'll keep the sound levels modest. But, when you want to dance, we promise you'll feel the beat. You are paying to hear us, so you're in charge. Let us know and we'll adjust the volume.

Can you play background or break music?

Unless there's another music system, we'll play CD tracks when we take breaks. If you want to provide your own music for breaks, prepare a CD or an MP3 player with the songs you want. We'll patch it in.

I know the Aces have a huge sound, but I want a band with more people. Can you do it?

Yes, sure, and absolutely! We've added 2nd guitarists, sax players, and vocalists. This lets us mix other songs into the Aces set list if it's not perfectly in tune with your preferences.

Where can I see the band?

The KC Aces band plays clubs, shows, and private events like weddings, reunions, and corporate functions. All KCAces shows in public venues will be posted in the web site. If you *absolutely* have to have a private showing to decide if you want to book the band, let us know. We can arrange it.
